Motorsports | Motorsports are characterized as the collection of sports which primarily involve motorised vehicles. Some of the most widely recognized motorsports include auto racing, motorcycle racing and truck racing. Autoracing is divided into many different categories ranging from single-seater racing, to drag racing, and the most commonly recognized form – NASCAR. Within the United States, NASCAR has grown to be the second-most popular sport in terms of TV ratings, ranking behind the National Football League. It is the 17th most attended sporting event in the U.S. and has a fan base of 75 million, making NASCAR the most commonly sponsored sport by Fortune 500 companies.
Motorcycle racing is internationally governed by the Federation de Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and most nations have their own governing bodies. However, there are many independent bodies that exist on both the international and national level. While the FIM categorizes motorcycle racing into four categories, each category has several sub categories, each with their unique attributes. Lastly, truck racing involves modified versions of heavy trucks that are raced on racing circuits. These racing circuits, along with the raceways for other motorsports, open a plethora of job opportunities. | | | |
