Qualifications/Requirements
Four year college degree. Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience in an advertising agency as an account manager or in the marketing department of a consumer packaged goods or retail company, a TV network or a sports league. An understanding of marketing fundamentals, including evaluating qualitative and quantitative research, writing strategies, evaluating creative and managing budgets. An understanding of and experience in TV, print, radio and online production. Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. We're looking for a hands-on, self-starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic to take on the role of AVP, Player Marketing.
PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Develop and implement the annual player marketing activation plan and the strategies, objectives, tactics and resources necessary to achieve departmental goals
- Manage, direct and lead staff including two Player Marketing Managers
- Provide marketing support and input to the leadership team of the Player Marketing department by assisting with building, developing and managing player marketing staff
- Oversee and coordinate the activation of players and coaches in the marketplace with sponsors, licensees, and partners
- Create and develop strategy for scheduling, tracking promotions and communicating results regularly to the Vice President of Player Marketing.
- Coordinate, monitor and continuously improve the business, both externally and internally by working with key management teams of the organization (Corporate Marketing, Multimedia, Collectibles and Communications) to exceed goals and objectives
- Optimize the marketing efforts and results by consulting and working with the Vice President, Asst. Vice President, Managers and other vital team members
- Serve as a liaison with Corporate Partnerships and Licensing facilitating deals with sponsors and licensees
- Assist in coordinating and managing annual budget, including preparing quarterly revenue projections
- Prepare employee goals and provide year end staff evaluations
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize, manage against a budget, communicate with internal and external teams, and show ownership for projects from start to finish.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and work alongside team members.
- Must be an individual of unquestioned integrity, ethics, and values
- Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business development and promotions
- Knowledge of Internet and Web-based promotion vehicles a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and good judgment
- Capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals with the ability to manage multiple-projects, with multiple internal customers
- Possess and demonstrate an extremely strong proficiency in communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer service oriented demeanor
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience using Microsoft Access, Power Point and Word a plus
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of supervisory management experience.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of proven marketing experience developing and executing integrated marketing plans utilizing advertising, branding and other related communication activities
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Sports Marketing, Business or other relevant field required
