The Bristol Herald Courier's sports department is looking for a writer/page designer to be a part of a seven-person staff. The Herald Courier covers more than 40 high schools throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia along with seven colleges, including the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech. The department also covers NASCAR, with races at Bristol Motor Speedway twice a year, Minor League Baseball, as well as community sporting events that occur throughout the year. The Herald Courier is a 41,000 circulation newspaper owned by Media General and located in the rolling foothills of Southwest Virginia.

Digital Media Intern - Comcast-Spectacor

This position is open to one student per Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters. Interns will work approximately 24-32 hours per week, including occasional Game Nights and Weekends.

Responsibilities included, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for editing video highlights from Flyers/76ers games and other events into video sequences for the First Union Complex interactive kiosks.
  • Assist in the production process for capturing new video to be edited for content.
  • Design ad banners and graphic elements for the kiosk interfaces and assist in updating the kiosk database content.
  • Assist in the development of interactive games and entertainment features.
  • Assist with kiosk maintenance and repairs as needed.

The Washington Redskins are hiring a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for performing varied accounting functions. Functions include but are not limited to general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, recording and posting entries in the financial system, preparation of sales tax returns, assistance with preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established company polices, accounts receivable collections and perform ad-hoc accounting projects as requested by management.

Duties:

 
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all company bank accounts
     
  • Perform account analysis on assigned general ledger accounts and prepare and post necessary journal entries
     
  • Provide A/R analysis for ticket office and assist with collections
     
  • Compile data and prepare quarterly sales tax returns
     
  • Verify sales commissions against customer accounts
     
  • Assist department in establishing standard operating procedures including the maintenance of internal controls and operational efficiencies

    Knowledge and Skills:

     
  • Familiarity with accounting/financial software (EPICOR or similar enterprise application)
     
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles
     
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
     
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
     
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
     
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate financial data and effectively communicate verbally and in writing
