Facility Development

Sports Facilities have gone from run-of-the-mill stadiums and arenas, to entire destination mega-complexes.  Many of the new facilities are the center pieces of enormous developments that bring all types of entertainment, shopping and dining experiences together.  The development of new facilities requires the cooperation of teams, private enterprises and governments, and has increasingly larger price tags.  New facilities are financed by team ownership, professional leagues and the taxpayers of the cities and counties in which they will be built.

In 1958, Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium was built for $1 Million, which provided the school and metropolitan Phoenix with a standard sports venue.  By contrast, the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas will cost over $1 Billion, and provide the much more than just a football stadium.  Today’s facilities standards require the very best in design, engineering and architecture to keep up with the latest trends and consumer demands.  The opportunities to work in sports facility development are endless whereas more and more teams and municipalities are recognizing the value of updated sports complexes.
