Broadcast

Sports Radio and Print Media is expanding to offer its listeners and readers a wider array of specialized sports coverage.  With the explosion of athletics in the past 20 years, sports fans have been given more viewing options than ever before.  In answer to this, the radio and print media industry has turned its attention to specialized products, which are devoted to regional, national and international sports.

In the radio field, sports talk radio talk shows can be found in most cities across the nation, offering round-the-clock sports coverage.  There are hundreds of radio stations that feature local programming, as well as national syndicated talk shows, such as ESPN’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning”.  This has created the need for the full spectrum of professionals necessary to produce a radio show, such as talk show hosts, broadcast producers, broadcast engineers, promotions directors, commercial advertising sales representatives, and sports editors.

Just like radio, print media has grown to new heights in recent years.  Sports Illustrated has dominated the magazine world with its weekly publications and coverage of current sports events.  Within the last several years, ESPN has introduced ESPN The Magazine.  With the addition of these and other specialty magazines and publications, new positions are available for qualified individuals.  Most professionals begin their careers at local newspapers or magazines, giving them the opportunity to try and experience all aspects of the print media environment.
