High School | | | | High School athletics represents a huge segment of the sports industry. There are over 17,000 high schools in the United States with athletic programs. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is the national service and administrative organization for high school athletics. The NFHS publishes playing rules and promotes programs and services that can be used by the individual state associations governing their high school athletic programs. Today, there are 16 sports and over 2.5 million young girls playing sports in every state. With an increasing number of young girls playing high school athletics, more and more women coaches are needed as well as women assistant coaches, women’s athletic coordinators and women trainers. Many collegiate, professional, and Olympic coaches began their careers coaching high school athletics.
