ASK COACH

Q:What do employers look for in a resume?

- A.S., Huntington Station, NY

A:They want to be knocked off their feet.  Don't send in the basic white sheets with boring information they've seen 1000 times.

BE DIFFERENT!  They want:

  1. Applicable industry experience (build it with internships)
  2. Clear and concise communication (1 page)
  3. Obvious knowledge of the opportunity (direct your objective and cover letter to the specific area of interest.  Do your homework)
  4. Explain:
    a. Where you've been (education)
    b. Where you are (professional experience)
    c. Where you're going (professional objective)
